Program 01 · Fluent
Financial literacy from people who work in finance.
Moraph’s financial services people spend their working lives inside the systems that decide who gets credit, what a loan costs and how fraud gets through. Fluent is how they share what they know with the people those systems serve.
What you get
Fluent in how money works, without a sales pitch.
Free, practical sessions on budgeting, banking, credit, borrowing, tax time and scams, taught by Moraph people from financial services and hosted by libraries, schools, credit unions and community organizations.
Sessions where people already go
Moraph people from financial services, and vetted volunteers with experience in finance, teach at your library, school, credit union or community center, in person or online. You choose the modules and the audience, and we plan the series with you.
Written for where you live
Banking, credit and tax rules differ from country to country. Every session is prepared for the country it is taught in, and points to the free public services that exist there.
Materials you keep
Slides, handouts and worksheets are published free in Commons, so your own staff can teach the sessions again without us.
No products, no personal advice
Sessions never promote Moraph, a bank, a card or an investment, and never collect anyone’s financial details. They explain how things work; they are not advice about one person’s money.
A good fit
- You serve people who are rarely taught how money works
- You can bring people together, in a room or online
- A staff member can plan the series with us
Not part of this program
- One-to-one financial advice, debt negotiation or tax preparation (we point people to free services that do this)
- Promoting any financial product, including the products of Moraph’s clients
Planned modules
Six modules. Choose the ones that fit.
Each module is a session of about an hour, written with the first hosts and prepared for the country it is taught in. We suggest three to six as a series. Part of financial literacy.
Everyday money
A budget that survives a real month, what to do when income is irregular, and starting a small emergency fund.
Banking without the fees
Choosing an account, avoiding overdraft and check-cashing costs, and what protects your money in a bank, a credit union or a payment app.
Credit reports and scores
What a credit report holds, how to get yours, how to dispute errors, and how a score is built and rebuilt.
Borrowing safely
How interest and fees add up, comparing offers, and recognizing high-cost and predatory lending.
Tax time and benefits
Free filing help where it exists, credits and benefits people often miss, and keeping the records you will be asked for.
Scams and fraud
Scams as bank fraud teams see them: impersonation, payment redirection, romance and investment scams, identity theft, and what to do in the first hour.
Teach Fluent. Moraph people teach these sessions, and so do vetted volunteers from outside Moraph with the right experience, after a conversation, checks and training on the rules.
Host Fluent sessions.
One short form about your organization and the people you serve. A person from the Moraph for Good team reads every application and replies, whether or not we can help.
